its the game but to try the new stuff before the realease on the real game, in the beta you can now play the coop campain and the new map

Tripwire uses a beta system in which they try out new things and test them before they release them. That way, many of the bugs, glitches and other issues can be addressed without causing as many problems when fully released.

Anyone who owns Red Orchestra 2 is able to play in the beta. Just launch the beta as opposed to launching RO2. There is no single player, only multiplayer. There are a few beta servers up.

Giusseppe is correct on playing the new map, but he is incorrect regarding the co-op campaign. That is still unavailable.
