PC version's Handbreak key

Ok i know probadly this is a common issue, but so far i couldnt find a solution.

Is there a way to manualy fix car's Handbrake in Dead Island?
Cause there is no reaction what so ever even when i change the assigned key. Still handbreak dosen't work - like it dosen't exist.

And it could improve a lot my poor driving skills in this game

When using it while turning a corner it allows you to turn more narrow, thats the only diffrence i expirience.

Yes thats why i want it to work, drfiting is what i need. Its hard to drift with normal "S" reverse key. Its possible, but kinda hard

The handbrake with the keyboard has never worked.

The only solution I've found is here.
