Fred Bonaparte's mind inspired by Twin Peaks?

I am currently watching Twin Peaks (1990) and there is a character in that goes a bit coocoo, and starts to imagine a battle between the two generals of the US Civil War. That character has a model with small figurines on it, all of it enacting one of the battles.

I am just wondering if Twin Peaks was the inspiration for Fred Bonaparte's mind game.
