Group abbreviation

Hi, why is it so that we MUST set an abbreviation for our Steam groups now?

And why is it so that they need to be UNIQUE now?

An example:
group name - A Cool Clan
abbreviation would be ACC.

ACC can't be used however, since it's already taken. Most of the small group names are taken. It's common sense that abbreviations are all taken aswell, since normal abbreviations are typically 2 to 3 characters long.

So, we need to use something like ACC1234 or A_C_C_. These aren't abbreviations anymore and therefore don't even serve any purpose.

It didn't used to be like this.

I'm fairly certain that it always used to be like that and that group abbreviations had to be unique since Steam Community launched.

I don't like the idea that we must enter them. I also don't like the idea that we can't rename a group(maybe with a limitation to 1 time per year), but oh well

It's been like this about a year now.
I used to be able to use whatever the abbreviation I wanted, not anymore.
I used to be able to use no abbreviation at all too.

This makes no sense! Okay, group names are unique. But 1000s of DIFFERENT group names can have the SAME abbreviation.

If abbreviation ABC is taken, the 999 other groups need to use a abbreviation like this: A-B-C!!.
