Question Banned for using mods in private server?

hi people can someone plz help me i got banned for using mods in privater server in the game dungeon defenders and dungeon defenders says that they fully supports modding so i dont know why they banned me they say it on their own site http://dungeondefenders.com/news
search on the site for these words fully support modding

Your modification must have contained a file that was flagged by Valve Anti-Cheat.

You'll need to contact steam support who will either confirm that the ban is valid (in which case it won't be removed) or they'll apologise and remove it.

for dungeon defenders, the devs only approve of mods made by there own development kit available as dlc. they do not allow cheating, or any mods that use external software, no matter what server you are on, in ranked or open. VAC only detects external software.
