Okay this is making me mad. Mic on Headset picking up output audio.

Headset: Turtle Beach X12
Soundcard: High Definition Audio Device(Integrated)(I had VIA HD Audio before, but they were really bad, so I rolled back to High Definition Audio Device)

Alright, so basically, this just started happening. My Microphone is picking up my output audio, which is stupid considering I never had this problem before. And this is with a headset.

I know for a fact its not the sound leaking into my mic, because I have the mic muted through the switch on the X12's, and I look at microphone audio meter, and it is playing exactly what the output audio is playing.

I looked online and people keep saying to uncheck "Listen to this device." But it is already unchecked.

People also say mute the microphone slider in playback devices, but the only play back device slider in there is Speaker/Headphone.

Someone, PLEASE help me with this.

Specs:
EVGA GTX 560 Ti
AMD Athlon II X4 630 @2.8Ghz
Asus M4A78LT-M LE
8GB DDR3 Ram

Go to the control panel, click on recording tab.

You will see "select a recording device below..."

In my example, you see the "What U hear" device as my default device with the green check mark next to it. When this happens, the mice picks up my audio instead of my mic. to change it to michrophone, i just need to set it as my default and issue is resolved.

What recording tab?

Something interesting: This is only happening if I'm using the X12's audio, when I plug in my speakers, the microphone doesn't play the output, when the X12 audio is plugged in, the microphone starts to play the output audio again.

There is often a bug with the "listen to this device" option. I fnd it is unchecked yet still hear my mic so I Do the following.

1. Check the "listen to this device" box click apply
2. Uncheck the "listen to this device" box click apply

Now test if you can hear yur mic in earphones.

"what you hear" is unique to Creative products.

What U Hear is something that Creative adds in, only applies to sound blaster.

However, try going to Control Panel -> Sound anyway and click the Recording tab at the top. Your headset is it's own audio and microphone "sound card" because it's USB, so it doesn't actually use your Integrated HD Audio at all (which would require a 3.5mm mini pin). Make sure the right device is set to default (the green check circle). It should say X12. If not, right click and choose Set Default on the proper recording device, and then switch to playback tab and do the same if it isn't correct either.

Um, you know that the usb is only for power right?

The headset uses the 3.5'mm jacks.

This happens extremely often when I'm in an Xbox party with my friends that own Turtle Beaches.

I can't exactly explain to you why, I suppose its just a flaw in the design of the headset or wiring. Maybe the two are getting mixed, and some of the sound signals are leaking out into the mic. Sorry I can't give you a more accurate answer, but I do understand your problem exactly. The only thing I found that fixes this is A) Buying a new 3.5mm jack, or B) Turning the audio down

No I didn't sorry I just looked up the specs and the site I found said "USB". Never actually seen one.

Not the same issue.

The Noise bleeding is from the X12 volume controller is my guess. I have the same issue. if my mic is muted and im blasting music it starts to leak.

Dat necrobump, anyway, I found the solution a while ago actually. It's the USB picking up interference from the motherboard. To remedy this, I plugged the USB into a power outlet.

Ah my mistake. I'm curious though; how did you fix it? Turn the music down?

I had this same problem, too, with my X12. Weather my mic was muted or unmuted, it would play the sound that was coming from my headset, only in terrible quality and distorted to hell. It only resolved itself when my X12 broke and I bought a wireless headset instead of another Turtle Beach. Sorry.
