Problem with steam installation
I get the "problem with steam installation, try and reinstall steam" error all the time now.
If I reboot, Steam starts up fine but if don't start steam up as soon as I reboot I get that error. If I close steam down then try and restart it again I get the error and I have to reboot. Yes, I've even tried reinstalling steam (which is a major pain in the ♥♥♥♥ as I'm sure you can imagine) and I still get the same error. This is pretty annoying and I have no idea why this has started happening so if anybody could shed some light on this iriitating, first world problem I'd appreciate it. win7 64 i5 2500 8gig GTX560 Thanks. |

Have you tried the 'manual' uninstall steps which involve registry keys
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...9609-OBMP-2526 Also check if Steam is running in compatiblity mode. Note this also may require registy hacking as the file->properties interface can be wrong. http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=1876684 |

I can confirm the above method works(moving steamapps to elsewhere and uninstalling steam and then redownloading)
Error popped up today of all days. What the hell is causing these seemingly random problems ? |

Running in compatibilty mode seems to have fixed the problem for me.
Edit - Scratch that, it hasn't worked and I'm still having the same problem. Last edited by killkhan: 03-17-2012 at 02:27 AM. |
