Question AMD driver update problems?

I had an AMD driver update for my video card this morning, (ATI Radeon HD 5700 series) and when I logged on to STO I had strange little black squares flitting all across the screen (in character select)

I figured i'd fiddle with graphics since I have everything set to max, and the first thing I turned off was Anti Alaising, instantly fixed it...

So I was wondering, has anyone else experienced this problem? I'm praying this is a bug with the driver update and not my graphics card starting to go out on me

I had the exact same problem. I didn't think of turning off Anti Alaising, did a system restore instead which worked great. Although your way would have been way faster!!! I think its just a problem with the drivers and not the game.

Thanks for the feedback, glad to know that it's the driver update and not my vid card lol.

Driver probs after update

Hey guys I think I found a work around for this, if you disable AA in game the artifacts will go away. But then go into catalyst control centre;

Gaming;
3D app settings;
AA settings and uncheck 'use application settings' and set your AA to whatever you want, I set mine to 8X and checked morphological filtering and set filter to Edge-detect.

Game looks good as before driver update probelms, I think this over-rides the in-game AA settings and it looks the same as I had it set when using in-game AA.
Try it guys let me know what you think, hope this helps.

Cheers.

I actually think the quality of star trek online has decreased for me, but more importantly it gave me serious graphical issues on BF3. I've just been setting it one way and then back when I'm done with STO, but I hope they either update the driver or hot fix the game...
