Yeh, looks like one of the last updates before they rolled the Client Update out of beta gummed something up. It was previously much smoother; hopefully a fix should be shortly forthcoming.

after you get 200+ games it is always choppy movement, especially if you have the banner picture enabled.

Scrolling what exactly is not smooth? Does anyone have a video showing the issue?

It's a bit laggy is how I discribe it. It pauses for a spit second while scrolling down. Happened on 2 seperate machines for me, Vista and Win7.

yeah can confirm that. the scroll is not as smooth as it should be (compared to chrome 17). by scroll i mean either the universal scoll (middle mouse button) or using the scroll bar. both lack in smoothness.

It hasn't scrolled properly or gone to the right tab properly in months. SO ANNOYING!

I will scroll down with the side bar all the way down pretty fast. It go down and then jitter back up slightly and then go back down. Its like taking 10 normal steps and then 1 small step back and then 10 normal steps forward again. Scrolled in the store. I'm using Windows. Also when I scroll in the store on the steampowered website on Chrome it scrolls fine. So its not my internet connection. Sorry that I can't record it my computer sucks too much to record what its doing without lagging. Last edited by Patflute: 03-15-2012 at 10:40 AM. |

Got this too, after last update. The problem occurs when browsing store or web pages, not on games list/descriptions, at least for me It's like repeating the last part when scrolling, hard to explain :P Got a Win 7 64 bit with ATI 5770 |

Scrolling with the mouse wheel seems fine for me, however when I quickly jump around the page by dragging the scroll bar there seems to be a delay in updating the window. I also notice that Steam uses about 45% of my processing power when doing this, while Chrome uses about 15% doing the same thing on the same page (steam store).
It seems like steam is using more resources than it should when re-drawing the window/web-page. Last edited by §W-: 03-15-2012 at 10:45 AM. |

Also when do you plan on fixing the focusing problems? One of the previous updates broke it. Whenever I click the attached Steam icon in my taskbar it opens up Steam but never gains focus. It idles behind other programms that are maximized...
In order to gain focus I have to minimize those programms and click the client or I have to right click the Steam icon, click e.g. "Friends" and then right click and click the Steam option. I'm used to it now but its pretty damn annoying to do this all the time because it worked just fine few months ago... |

I took a video of the stuttering. Used the middle mouse click and drag scrolling, although it doesn't show on the video.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fb1xypj90...er_problem.mpg Click download in the upper right corner for the full quality. And sorry about the music in the background, didn't know that gets recorded as well. |
