CS:GO to have an in-game store, possibly

Did a search in these forums and I didn't find any threads about this, but if you browse inside pak01_dir.vpk and go into the materials folder, you'll see a storefront_template directory with this inside.

In addition, there are UI sounds for the store in ui/sound listed as:
  • csgo_ui_store_rollover.wav
  • csgo_ui_store_select.wav

What do you think they will sell? These weapon skins? They managed to sell hats in Portal 2 remember, so anything is possible.

lol, this related to the INGAME shop.. you know

where you buy guns at the start of the game..

The ONLY way CS:GO would have a store was if it was F2P.. and that would never happen.

CS is about giving you all the guns to start with, not dangling them above you waiting for you to throw money at them

Have you even played the Beta? The buy menu is a radial menu that looks like this.

Just because TF2 had hats doesn't mean CS:GO will (Portal 2 doesn't count, it's atmosphere was okay with it, Valve isn't stupid)

Can't wait to play dress up with my terrorist barbie! (No seriously, a little customization would be fine with me.)

your point being?

You still use money earned ingame to buy weapons.. in yes, maybe you don't know this but.. that 'menu' is called the store

It has always been called buy menu, not store. This is unsettling.

Edit: Oh, and don't say that users can mod their weapon skins and models anyways, they can block that.

I suspected that there might be a store in CSGO. Stuff like weapon skins, model camo, and animations could definitely be apart of it.

*You have just unlocked the throwing knife* Instant kill and steals all of the enemies money. LOLOLOL

Will these skins be client-viewable only, or will they be viewed by other players on the server?

This could have important impacts upon gameplay, possibly negative impacts as well.

I'm completely against unlocks that serve to separate the playerbase or provide advantages to one player over another.

For instance, unlockable camo armour, gun skins, etc that make your playermodel harder to distinguish in say, Dust. That is unfair if that model is forced upon the other players to view. If however, its local-only, more power to you. I'd love to be able to customize my game local-only, but I don't want that to impact anyone else's play at all.

They better not deprecate sv_pure 1 and sv_pure 2 while I'm thinking on it.
