Dilithium farming

So they added a lame cooldown to the ONLY halfway decent dilithium farming quest i've found so far in game (kerrat)

Are there any other ways to farm dilithium (besides the exploration missions which take WAY too long and don't give nearly enough dilithium to make it worthwhile.

With this change it's pretty much killed any chance of me being able to farm dilithium for a new ship and new gear anytime even remotely soon (especially with the dilithium exchange rate going through the roof)

It was already hard enough (and took several hours a day) for me to be able to farm the 8000 dilithium cap on my 5 characters, and now there's a cooldown.

There's the daily officer reports one (complete 3 user created missions). It only takes 15-20 minutes if you do Nagas(sp?) ones. His as really simple and meant to do as daily grind ones, especially the distress call ones. Just pop into the system, destroy a few ships, and done.

easy as pie 1, 2, 3 are also user created missions that take 5 sec to complete, just go to starfleet academy, at the same time you can also do the lore mission, just use the wiki and another 480 dil comes your way

If you don't mind being bored to tears, there's either the Mirror event or STFs.

I can get upwards of 4800 (480 per completion) for the Mirror event, which is probably better than what you can get at the Academy events. 4800+ in one hour means you have done half your daily limit already. Three more Elite STFs and you're done.

The STFs are probably your best bet. Most take 10-12 minutes or roughly three per hour, so about a couple of hours per character and you get other rewards at the same time. Unlike the Mirror and Academy events, you can do these any time too. Just not by yourself.

If you are a tactical officer with an escort or some kind of dps ship you can get your daily dilithium in about 1hour 15 minutes. You also make about 500k in energy credits if you pick up some anomaly stuff.

from the post by cosmic_one on the sto forums
http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...90&postcount=7

Starfleet Academy quiz: 480 dilithium (2 minutes)
need the answers from stowiki lore since a wrong answer = no dilithium
http://www.stowiki.org/Lore

Officers Foundry Missions: 1,440 dilithium (less than 1 minute)
for this one do missions like 3 boogie missions, 3 quickie missions(many versions)

Go to Eta Eridani block: 3 dailies for 1,440 dilithium
shmar distress signal - go to zibal system amd look for a freighter flying around near there called shmar (480 dilithium)
defense contract - go to alhena system and get incoming distress call (480 dilithium)
traelus satellite repair - go to traelus system (480 dilithium)

When you get enough computer core fragments from one of the missions you can get a mission for another 1,440 dilithium. 10 computer core fragments opens a mission.

3 Deferi Dailies: Unlocked by doing the mission: cold call
ambassador shurah aiding the defari 1440 dilithium - given by ambassador shurah from available mission list
- outpost 3
- kelvani belt
- go to planet called defera and contact ship called defari patrol in orbit for patrol

Unlocked by doing the mission: out in the cold
rescue defari captives 480 dilithium : go to kelvani belt and look for a ship called Breen Patrol flying around near there. Can pay 1000 latinum ransom to do the mission in less than 1 minute.
emancipation 480 dilithium

Take the Transwarp gateway to Gamma Orionis and head to B'tran. Accept and do both the Vice Admiral Dailes from Lt. Karbo chart the B'tran cluster and explore the B'tran cluster (one for 1440 dilithium and the other to complete explore strange new worlds) and one from Lt.Grall called Explore Strange New Worlds (1440 dilithium) at the same time to get 2,880 dilithium.

klingon version of explore strange new worlds is we need breathing room

It takes me about 1hour 30 minutes to get 8000 dilithium without using doff missions. Theres also a doff mission for 3 contraband that pays 2k dilithium. The contraband are currently about 22k ec each on the exchange. Its also much easier to make dilithium on the klingon side.

new ship : 120k dilithium, max per day is 8k, so thats 2 weeks 1 day just to get one tier 4/5 ship which used to be free, however the pay to win ships are 1200 CP - $15-25. At this point, you should just quit the game. Is it worth grinding for 2 weeks straight (assuming you farm exactly 8000 a day) to get a new looking ship? What does that get you?

The new ships are 2000c points (250dil/c point*2000=500,000 dilithium). The new ships aren't really pay to win ships from what I heard. Free to play gets 2 characters (1 klingon , 1 federation) so if you do the starfleet academy quiz + the officer reports daily you get 1920 dilithium total for about 5 minutes work per character. So 1920*2=3840 per day based on 2 characters. So 130 days (21.67 hours) to get a 2000 c-point ship , 104 days (17.3 hours) to get a 1600 c-point ship, 31 days to get a 120k dilithium ship (or 5.17 hours gameplay at 10 min for both characters to make 120k dilithium).

So based on 5 characters slots a 2000 c-point (500,000 dilithium)ship would take 52 days and 21.67 gameplay hours doing just the 2 missions.

Anyways the game does seem like its very slowly inching towards pay to win ever so slightly based on nerfs and npc buffs. Also at level level 40 the fleet escort and advanced escorts work well. Currently for pve dps is most of what matters. I wouldn't worry about getting c-store ships unless you have a bunch of dilithium you don't know what to do with.

Unfotunately, it seem like several of the offers aren't legit. I know many people say they didn't get their points after doing the Netflix trial. Admittedly, I don't know if reporting the issue helped them get their points. I never checked back to see.

I have personally satisfied all requirements on a few offers and didn't receive anything. I have enough bad experience with the support that I'm not going to bother complaining.

Another thing I noticed is that one entire group of offers never seemed to work for me. It kept telling me unavailable on every single one of them.

I've got my eye on a ship, but I'm neither paying cash nor farming dil again. It was awful just getting the 120k for my carrier, and last time I looked the exchange rate was getting ridiculous.

Noob question. About farming do you just press "f" to farm dilithium or is it set as an award doing a mission?

(Just asking and yes I didn't really read the replies. Those are walls of text this is a forum not a library.)

Dilithium is awarded from:
  • Mission completion
    • STFs
    • PvP
    • Fleet Action
    • Dailies
  • Duty Officer Assignments
  • Events
You cap out at 8000/day for refining but the system auto-converts it each day.

Yeah, those ships were never free, aside form the old ship tokens. They used to cost EC-a lot of energy credits.

Dilithium can be used to purchase c-store points--so, that's technically farm-to-win as any other game. The grind is just longer to get the ship. You can also buy it to solve that farming.

The best equipment is farmed from STFs too (space and ground).
