So Myst V is on Steam now
So - Myst V is on Steam now . . . and it's listed as "casual."
LOL. It's been a long time, but I never thought of Myst games as very casual at all. The puzzles are often tough and may require a pencil and paper to solve . . . As somebody who has played all of the Myst games (and completed all except URU), it's good to see them on Steam. Well, except RealMYST, I never played that one, but I completed the original Myst, so I never felt as if I had to play the truly 3D version of it. Although it's kinda too bad this type of game isn't really made anymore. What they did was amazing, and I'd say I enjoyed the worlds of Myst more than any other fantasy worlds I've seen. I wonder - if they make enough sales with the iOS versions of these games, do you suppose Cyan Worlds could make a new game, a new series? Could you imagine what a new game created by Cyan would look like with today's technology? |

I played Myst in 1993, but I don't remember much. I bought yesterday Myst V, because it sounded/looked interesting from the store page. I am not far with Myst V, but I will finish it by this weekend. So far I like it and it remembers me of the old pc era, although Myst V is from 2005. I started playing in the 80s. Hopefully Myst V gets enough sales on Steam. In the meantime I can play the other Myst and Uru titles on Steam.

I didn't really think that 3D technology had really gotten as good as their pre-rendered tech when Myst V was released, to be honest. Today, however, I think we're getting close, although vegetation and fur may still be a bit problematic. Pre-rendered still outshines real time when it comes to really complex stuff. Although you know what? I think it would still be worth a shot to try something akin to Myst IV again, but at a resolution suitable for today's HD monitors. Quote:
