Far Cry 3 pre purchase on Steam?

The site says it's already pre orderable on six other places, but why not on Steam? Is it coming to steam right?

Maybe DigitalRiver finally managed to convince Ubisoft to pretty much kill off their digital distribution by letting them be the sole point of sale. What? I'm not cynical or anything.

Steam is usually late to the bandwagon when it comes to pre-ordering games. Unless there is a specific pre-order bonus do you really need to pre-order any game?

Have we not learnt the lessons of previous games?

No, we have just started pre-ordering earlier, with kickstarter and the like.

The six places you mention are basically trying to get pre orders going on the console side of things. It 'might' come to Steam. If it does expect it to be hampered by Uplay. I am literally avoiding Anno and HOMM6 because Uplay is so terrible

Why do yo need preorder 5 months before release? Digital copies won't sold out.

Why you do have a point, I've been surprised before to have seen games on Steam (especially during sales) that ran out of valid keys and thus could not be bought.

I suppose all copies of a game have a unique cd key so once they've run out, the game is basically sold out. Fortunately most of the time it's fixed pretty fast by the developer or publisher by simply making more keys available.

Far Cry 3 is gonna be great. And even though digital copies will never run out, there are loads of free stuff you get for pre-ordering games. For Far Cry 3 you get extra in-game missions and extra Multiplayer content. And there is always the possibility of people who pre-purchased one game to get early Beta access to the next. I would like to preorder the game through steam, but if not, i'll have to use some other piece of crap.

I played Far Cry 2 so I really doubt that. Rinse & Repeat 3.

Yeah after far cry 2, i'm skeptical. The video at e3 didn't exactly blow me away either. But it could very well turn out good.
