Hey guys,

EVE is on sale for 6,80 USD right now, and im really interested on it, as im playing the Demo (trial) now and im quite enjoying the game.

The problem is, there's this message on the page: "Product keys will not work with existing EVE Online accounts."

So, if i buy this sale/deal i wont be able to upgrade my Trial Account? Is that so?

Upgrading trough the EVE site i would pay 14,90 USD for 1 month sub...so i really wanted this deal hehe.

What that is refering to, is people who already play Eve cannot use the key to extend the subscription like a Game Time Card. As stated above you will be fine.

If you get it, be sure to ask around first for coupons. There seem to be quite a few new EVE coupons going around on Steam giving you an additional 75% off of the already discounted price

It will work, CCP did this because of people like me who back in the day would create trial accounts and buy EVE Online on sale for cheap to exploit the buddy invite system.

I used to play on a non-demo account, but deactivated since maybe a year ago. Would the Steam discount ticket somehow give me game time? Steam says i already own the game.

Main reason i quit back then was poor support for new players. Pirates camping and podkilling on a stargate between 0.5 and 0.4 sec. If that's still happening with no counter to it, i will not reactivate.

If I create a buddy trial account, and then activate the steam promo on that trial account, will I be able to receive my reward on my main account?

If you already used a trail once you have to buy gametime from CCP.
There is still pod killing, that is EVE.

No, you wont; Steam keys don't work towards the buddy trial reward system.

If you already have a non-trial account, you can't use a steam key on it. Though if you originally quit because of high-lowsec border piracy the game probably isn't for you.

I can confirm this works.

I created a trial account last night and bought the game on steam, I was able to use the steam purchase to upgrade my trial account.
