Nothing's wrong. Just exit and restart Steam, and try to load the game again.

That's what I do whenever I get the error and it then works fine.

I wouldn't say that "nothing" is wrong, but gladly it's just a minor bug.

Yeah, I got that on first run as well. Just restart Steam and all is well. The game works without any problems on Windows 7 64 bit. I completed the entire game on it.

You had better luck than me it seems..

Win7 x64 here as well - whenever I launch FlatOut, the .exe will start, spawn a process of rundll32.exe - and that's it. No visible windows, nothing more ever happens, I have to kill the process tree manually to get rid of it.

Yes, I already tried validating my game files.
No, it did not change a thing.

Any ideas about this?

Have you tried FOv3 mod?

FOv3 mod will patch your stock v1.0 Flatout and you will use the Euro noCD v1.1 exe and a different folder than the Steam\flatout folder to run the game.

You can download the FOv3 mod GOLD edition here:

http://www.moddb.com/downloads/foj-c...d-gold-edition

You just need to supply a FOv3 mod folder and copies of your common1.bfs and the common2.bfs files.

When the game was installing, did it ask to install Direct X drivers? Windows 7 still needs the DirectX 9 files. I installed from my original cd discs, Steam may be different
