Steam games on sale older ones in perticular.

There are several games like The Elder Scrolls Morrowwind and Silent Hunter 3 for instance"among others" that you cant just install through Steam and start playing but you need to do research and modify the game in order to make it work.

If Steam are going to sell these kinds of games they shold also when the purchase E-mail arrives tell you about these kinds of known issues and how to fix it.

If they are going to sell a game they in my opinion bother to learnb about this and should tell you how to make it work.

Regards

I've heard that the place for old games is gog.com

They have their games better in quality regarding specifically old games.

The 2 games you listed work on Steam without having any modifications done to it.

Maybe resolutions like these did not exist when the game was released. You should try asking on the Subsim forums.

That's not the point though. Allot of games have severe issues and only savy customers will know how to fix them.

For example, Red Faction 1 requires a fan made patch or it will often crash. It's been like this for like 7 years, that glitch will affect everyone but people using PC's from the 90's or early 00's.

You got my point sir. They should not sell people the game if the game in question dont work properly without special knowledge on how to fix it. And if they do sell the game they should provide the knowledge on how to fix it.

I bought the Silent Hunter Pack. I just tried to play Silent Hunter 4 and it will start , you get to the main menu, then upon starting the game it will crash.

Seriously? lol

Steam list what OS every game is recommended. If Windows 7/Vista isn't on the list(Or whatever your OS is) then people shouldn't buy them unless they know they can resolve issues. It's not Steams fault that people who buy games not made for their OS when they know they can't fix issues if they arise.

Well no one uses for instance windows 2000 now days as their OS that's listed as recommended for Silent Hunter 3.

So again if you are going to sell a game"especially when there are people who dont know these things they should make it perfectly clear." Otherwise they will just sucker people in that will see the game on sale on steam.

They whould basicly be selling a game that requires a system that almost noone uses anymore and then they should bother to teach people if they buy the game how to make it work

Always check the forum before any purchase.

There could be any number of issues with any game.
Hardware/software/drm/other
If you visit the forum you can find most issues.

Some are widely known and fixes are documented, others, not so.

I have been visiting forums and tried several things but its out of my leauge. Like it probobly is for most people. Obviously there are the possibility that there can be unknown issues but i think Steam should do some research and really try to find these kinds of solutions.

Remember there are KNOWN issues and known FIXES they should be aware of those and provide assistence. Upon contacting Steam, the first messege is a generic copy paste message usually that does not help at all"i have gotten those" .

When replying to that message and asking for assistance they will reply somthing like verify the game cache or not our problem contact the game developer.

I just feel if they are going to put a game on sale they should bother.

Cheers

People still use Windows 2000. You're just assuming because YOU don't no one else does.

You're missing the point. You bought a game that says NOTHING about your OS and then decided.. "Oh, it's their fault I bought something they don't me might not work on my system"

It's 100% your fault. It'd be like someone getting upset that Linux isn't supported after buying it.

You are Semi correct im not saying its their fault in that sense.

I get if its a store where you buy psysical copies of games thats one thing.

But Steam is probobly one of the largest Online game Stores so why cant they have a decent support and not respond with copy paste messages. They definatly could if they just wanted to.If they sell these games that probobly will have issues as one of the biggest online gaming community is it so far fetched? it whould be nice if they could provide some help with these kinds of issues.Of course they dont "have to" or are legaly obligated to help.
Since im a total noob when it comes to these kinds of thingys its hard to figure this stuff out on your own.

Computer issues i spoken in a diffrent language that for the ignorant is a foreign language.

Regards

Bingo.

I will say, at this point in time, they might want to put a more obvious visual flag on all the games that are not Win 7 or Vista compatible. The system specs are down at the bottom in fine-ish print.
