Is my graphics card good?
Hi guys, so I am a new PC gamer, and am curious as to if my set up is good. I was told it was really good,
Processor-AMD Athlon AMD 6400 Graphics Card- Nvidia 5200 Geforce with 512k on board memory and I have 4gb of ram. It seems good, but when I play games such as GTA 4 and Dead island, I have to lower the resolution to 800x600 to even be able to come close to making the game playable. Any suggestions? The GPU isn't good and the CPU isn't exactly "good" either. Whomever told you that was probably the seller, right? lol
If you're not trolling, you should've done your homework. Its not a surprise that you have a hard time with those games. http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gp...eForce+FX+5200 Last edited by synthemesc: 03-30-2012 at 02:04 PM. |

Why would I be trolling? Im trying to ask a serious question to improve my gaming experience.
Yes it was the seller that told me these were good specs. By CPU are you referring to my processor? |

He means your computer was intended to play pong...
But in all seriousness, that computer won't run anything recent in a way that would be enjoyable. You would probably need a whole system overhaul to make it enjoyable. I'm guessing you migrated from console to PC so you don't know much, but your computer will only handle browsing or really old games. |

This is exactly the reason why you should never take someones word on anything. I see horribly outdated computers on craigslist all the time that are labeled as "gaming" pc's. They may have been a gaming pc, back in 2003... It simply won't cut it for todays games unless you want to horribly gimp the game (if you can play them at all). Always be suspect and always do your own research. A 5 min google search would've given you all the info you need prior to purchasing that pc. Last edited by synthemesc: 03-30-2012 at 02:12 PM. |

Okay, what would be a good gaming computer for me to purchase, that is someone affordable.
Or, what would I need to buy to replace the my current parts to make it good. |

How are you even able to play GTA4 and dead island with that pc. I looked up the minimum requirements and your pc doesn't even come close.

We would need a budget to be able to recommend some parts.

Its basically worse then PS2 graphics. I am working with a $200 budget, maybe $300, depends on my next paycheck. I would like to do what ever is cheaper, buy a new computer, or better parts. I am doing some research on ebay for some gaming PCs but would love some suggestions. |

First upgrade your graphics card to an Evga Gtx 560 TI FTW edition
When you get your next paycheck, upgrade your CPU to an Intel Core i5 2500k Also, find someone other than that person to help you. |

You forget to ask him obvious questions. He can't just go buy the parts, throw them in and expect them to work (With that PC, anyway). |
