Unhappy This campaign is ridiculously difficult

This campaign is just ridiculous. What they expect me to do is ridiculous. Instead of making the AI smart they just cover the whole damn map with enemies and give me a limited amount of units to deploy, great! I understand that some people enjoy difficulty but they could've at least made it have multiple difficulties for us casual gamers. I really like the game. I think it is the closest thing to the modern military RTS that I always wanted to play but the difficulty of the campaign is just making it too hard to enjoy. I made it all the way to Able Archer, but at this point I think I'm going to give up. Fighting millions of anti-tank infantry and BMPs with just 3 tanks is not my idea of fun

Ya, I kinda stopped playing cause I like to take it slow but then I realize that they have unlimited units so the longer you take, the more damage you sustain. Permanently... So it's no fun in that regard. Limited units, limited supply, limited time, unlimited enemies? Not realistic. Just forces you to rush, which is not a fun game mechanic IMO.

I made it to Mission 5 before realizing I was having almost NO fun whatsoever.

This is the game I'd been waiting for since the original Combat Mission but the Single-Player stuff is just not fun.

I never once quit a play-session thinking WOW THAT WAS FUN! It was always like Whew at least I finished THAT mission, only 10 more to go...

Shows how people are different

To me those two are almost synonymous.

pitstop & fight for the high ground probably were my favorite missions, i really enjoyed them. but i stopped playing the campaign in the middle of the able archer chapter. it just became too hard, multiplayer is ten times more enjoyable anyway

You guys are whining about how the campaign is bad (Hands down, I HATED it.. I couldn't get myself to play past the first chapter)

Try the MP. There are really some games where you can lose, or even win and go "Wow! That. was. amazing."
I know some of you "casual" gamers likes to take it slow, but be realistic here for a minute. How many grand strategy games are out there now? Not many. Chances they're gonna focus on casual gamers is really small, especially since most Grand Strategists wants some complexity, strategy and of course 'costumization' depending on playstyle within the game.
Which Wargame has.

Try the MP, you won't get disappointed.

Soyaman its ok . I have now played the two first campains, and I feel ready for MP but how do I start it seems everybuddy is so experienced, and how long does the normal MP game take.

Well that is exactly the problem.
I'm not alone when I say this - but many people use the campaign of a game to prepare for online play.

I haven't dipped into one single game online yet because I found the campaign far too hard to enjoy. I feel that I will just get destroyed online also - so the game now sits unplayed.

I'm sure its an amazing game - but they should have made it a touch more inviting or at least had a more gentle learning curve.

It is recommended to make a game called "noobs only" to get newer people (Or idiots who wish to roflstomp you)

Or perhaps find a teacher whom can show you some neat ways of dealing with certain things.

Personally I prefer playing Time instead of Destruction (Gamemodes. If your teammates, or you, lose a certain amount of units in Destruction, it's game over. Time has more time to slay the enemy's HQ and win the game.

Once again, I never play Destruction, I recommend playing Time. This allows you to set the Timer to 20-60 minutes depending on how long you want to play (40 minutes is a decent game, it usually ends before that).

I've shown some new people some tips here & there. If you really want, you could add me and you can ask questions about how to deal with certain things while you're playing for example
(I heard another guy asking about Delta in cities, having a live-chat to ask these things while in game may prove useful)

I realised at around the third mission, that I had a reinforced platoon, facing at least a battalion. I got the distinct impression that the SP game was simply a tack on for the MP game.

I was hoping to play through the SP campaign to get the hang of how things work, but the SP game isn't even a slugfest, with unlimited troops available for the AI it simply degenerates.

One of the most "unfun" things about the SP is that you often have to "waste" stars earned on units to make the SP run easier - and said units are near-worthless to have in an MP deck.

The SP in this game marks one of the first times in a while when I've been tempted to use a trainer.

I seriously do not understand why people think the single player is difficult.

Your opponent is always very passive, predictable and easy to counter. There are several ways to cheese the missions. Even with legit play computer simply cannot overcome certain tactics. There are maybe three or four missions in the game that are hard to complete in first try, even most of the secondaries are easy enough.

You get stars so much and so quickly that there's no reason to fear you're wasting them. For multi you need a vehicle-bound SAM and recon chopper, single player can be done with pretty much any set of units you want to.

Short list: recon a lot, use suitable units, computer doesn't counter helos very well, unless you're in a pressing hurry take your time. Generous supply makes all the difference. Don't throw your units away, and don't drive them to melee range.

I have trayed some of the missions a second time after I finished the the two campains, the second time with more unlocked units and a better vararity, and realised the f.eks M48 Chapperel maid a big diff. to how the AI was figthing back. The first time i was loosing AA very quickly but with the M48 the AI have learned that there Helos have a very short life. So I think our exp. with SP is as different as there are options off units to thoose. I would like to play with you gays but I am in Portugal and seames to be quite away in time zone ( I am Danish but living in Portugal )

You can check youtube to see how others have completed the missions. You can also go to the official WEE forums to get tactics, Strats and unit info which will improve the way you use your forces.

At the start of every SP game I find all the entry points and try to capture them first. You won't have and endless amount of enemies after you cut off his supply lines.

Don't look at every engagement as a uint you need to kill or a piece of ground you need to take. Instead, you need to look at how much that unit or ground is going to cost you. You have to put the cost first, and that holds truin in SP, MP and IRL. Move slow, recon and engage targets at max or most effective range. If you don't know whats in the woods, call in Arty or send in ground troops.

SP missions are tough; and, you just can't line up a bunch of T64s or M1A1s and yell "Charge"! You have to conserve your forces, use tactics and play smart.

Ok, so from what I've read the campaign can be annoyingly difficult, but hows the story from a character development/cinematic standpoint compared to those found in RUSE, World in Conflict, or Starcraft II?

I really, really want to like this game, but everything I've heard or read so far has proven itself to be a major turn off (lack of coop vs ai, lack of defensive structures/base building). I'm hoping that a cinematic masterpiece of a campaign will sell the game because in a year of a total lack in decent RTS games this could have been the next RUSE.
