Non-story campaign mode?
Is there a game mode here that lets you just conquer the lands without a linear story guiding you along the way? I'm thinking more like Total War long campaign?

The Saxons and The Druids DLC are sandbox mode only. That's what you search. There are only a few combat quests to give you some boost.

Noon, or anyone else, please share more info about Sandbox mode.
I have Saxons, but never played it. From what I can determine from the store page, Saxons DLC = Christian Units Druids DLC = Pagan Units Otherwise, what does Sandbox mean ? Conquer the whole map without triggering events ? Events like an enemy army of undead spawning behind your frontline ? Dig |

Hi, indeed in the saxons DLC you play as a christian king (but i think you can still change your alignment). In each DLC you start with 2 provinces and a stronghold, and there are a lot of other kings to fight or ally with.
There are some events too, but only combat and merchant quests to get heroes or artefacts. About the goal, you fix it when you launch a new game, conquer the whole map, get x gold/food, turn limit etc... |
