ugh.. as much as QL is nice (and free), its still nothing compared to the original.. no gore (not even a funny alternative like confetti, no custom skins/maps...
gimme a good run with proper Q3A anytime compared to that.

the same damned maps all the time just get boring.. and the selection of skins is literally broken down to less than Q3A's launch collection..
and far less than my current Q3A set

It seems like every server with decent ping is just an Urban Terror server. I don't think I've been on a single Q3 server that didn't only have a handful of bots. Very disappointing.

sadly this is what killed the game.
90% of the servers out there ran bots to attract people, and once someone did join.. they'd bail cause no one wanted to play with the bots. :/

joining online meant a person wanted to play PEOPLE not bots.. thats what local and the SP campaign were for..

I doubt its what killed the game, there are loads of other more easier gaems out there. Quake takes alot of practice to master which I sprobably the biggest put off a game could have thesedays.

back then it was a fairly standard style of game.
Halo and CoD 2 hadn't come around yet to start simplifying things down to generic 2-3 weapon setups and the selling of map packs while locking down the source to prevent the mods that still make these old games better than 90% of new ones.

speaking of that.. wonder if anyones still in Gloom..

Nothing to add of substance, just that I recall running off my high school campus to play this game at a friend's house during my lunch period! What a great game!
