Question Any idea why there's no achievements on Rayman?

I love achievements Nothing better than getting those tricky achievements. From my understanding the PS3 and 360 version has achievements, not sure on Vita - but why not on PC?

Anyone know? Cheers

Because Rayman Origins isn't a Steamworks game.

You'll still have time challenges, medals and other things to accomplish in the game though.

Game doesn't need to be Steamworks to have achievements. Even free 2 play games have steam achievements. I vote they were just lazy.

Gotta remember: Ubisoft dont support PC games 100%, so why would they waste their time on achievements?

I mean look at the delays on Ubisoft games... they dont give a damn.

It appears Ubisoft intentionally ignores putting in any Steam-unique features for their games. I presume this is because they wanna push their Uplay online platform (which has achievements of its own).

There are of course some Ubisoft-published games that do have Steam Achievements, however these are seemingly limited to games not developed by an Ubisoft division (e.g. Might & Magic Clash of Heroes, and Shoot Many Robots).

wow, i would say it's kind of unfair... if ubi has official achievements, steam should have too.
If steam has rights to sell rayman, it should have full services such as cloud data and achievements for steam users. moreover, we payed Steam the exactly same price as Ubi store. so why people who buy from ubi store have achievements while steam users dont have the same thing?
well, at least Ubi didnt put any 3rd part DRM into Rayman origins to limit the activation for steam users...

Oh, no version of Rayman Origins has any achievements (at least I think so). I was just speaking of Ubisoft games in general. If an Ubisoft game has Uplay achievements, the Steam version will still contain those. Ubisoft wants to push their Uplay platform upon Steam users, rather than adapting their games for the Steam userbase.

Personally, I'm glad Rayman Origins doesn't have Uplay achievements. If we can't have Steamworks features, then having it completely free of Uplay and/or third-party DRM is the next best option. I'll be fine if Ubisoft games are like this from now on.

This. Time = money. There's a cost associated with implementation Steam achievements in terms of programmer hours spent.

Given the game's unfortunate (non)showing on the top seller list (seriously, shame on most PC gamers for ignoring this great title), it looks like Ubisoft made the right judgement call by not spending a huge amount of time on the port.

The port is perfectly functional, runs and looks great on PC; I'd be thankful for that and wouldn't complain about something as trivial as achievements. If it were a huge seller, then I think it'd be reasonable to start asking for extras.

The game was in the top seller list for a whole week. Sure, it isn't a lot but it's something.
And you are reasoning like Ubisoft. The right way to do things is like CD Projekt Red did with The Witcher and The Witcher 2.

Achievements or not, it's a great game for me. I feel a sense of accomplishment beating some of those stages. Not quite as difficult as Super Meat Boy, but really gorgeous, funny, and exciting!
