Hi,
Some of my friends have this game and I want to join, but if a take it on Steam I can play with people playing not-steam version? |

Be careful. There are different versions of this game. There are now four "current" versions:
Sins of a Solar Empire (the original game--aka "Vanilla"). Entrenchment -- the first expansion. Diplomacy -- the second expansion. Rebellion -- currently in Beta testing. To play it with your friends, you need to own the exact same version of the game that they are playing. Which version are they playing? If you purchase the Trinity pack, which contains Vanilla, Entrenchment, and Diplomacy, then you can play any of those three versions of the game but not Rebellion. If you pre-order Rebellion then you can play in the Rebellion beta--but not in Vanilla, Entrenchment, or Diplomacy (unless you already own those separately). Note that Rebellion will include all of the content from the previous games in addition to the new Rebellion content. |

Ok thanks, no difference between Steam and not-steam version.

It is a simple enough circumstance to begin with, but eventually it can grow slightly complex (and annoying). I prefer Steam for coordinating my multiplayer these days - it makes the task so much easier/painless - so I bit the bullet and re-purchased Sins Trinity over Steam. Now I don`t have to worry about anything.
I would recommend doing that, just for the sake of sanity, ALTHOUGH you *should* be able to play one identical copy of SoaSE versus any other... its just a question of how you get players into the game. |

Rebellion will be a single-source client. Everyone who is updated will have the same client.
Sins and the earlier expansions will be either Trinity or non-Trinity versions but I think the last Diplomacy patch made them compatible. |

Steam will often have Trinity on sale and has the best update system currently available. Recommend going that way.

Check Steam everyday. Once a day is fine, you can also check it by the website instead use Steam.exe

Ok i bought it of Steam. Now if i want to play multiplayer where do i click in the game? The only option is LAN and that's not internet multiplayer. The ironclad option useless aswell.
Aren't there any multiplayer games browser? Last edited by dj christian: 08-01-2012 at 09:36 AM. |

Ironclad option. That is what you use.
