NWN2 refuses to run.

My speccs:

Windows 7 64bit.
i7-2600K @ 3.4Ghz, 8 Cores.
16GB RAM.
2x GTX 580 in SLI config.
Onboard Realtek audio.
HDD is an SSD, if that might matter.
Fairly standard peripherals.

My problem:

When running NWN2, I end up with a black screen, the mouse pointer goes through that 'loading' animation and... that's it. Nothing happens no matter how long I wait. I can try running it through Steam, directly through the NWN2.exe (or the NWN2Main file) and I get the exact same result. I need to Ctrl-Alt-Del out of it and shut down NWN2Main's process.

Attempted solutions:

Compatibility modes (XP, SP3), running as admin. I've checked the nwn.ini file, but can't really spot anything that'd be relevant. I did try to adjust the resolution to my native resolution, but that did nothing. Oh, and yes, I have verified the files and even removed and reinstalled the game.
Checked the first few pages on this forum but didn't find any threads that covered this particular issue.

Make sure directx 9.0c, net framworks, c++ 2005 and 2008 are installed.

I run NWN2 on a ssd and it runs awesome. The game can take up the smaller drives quickly. Save often. Toward the end of the game each save is just over 100 mb. I just finished the oc again and had 60 saves.

I don't run sli, but I know people do.

Oh yeah, try running it in windowed mode. May have to set it in the ini file.

I've gone through the various installation stuff. No changes. Can't have it run in windowed mode because it frankly doesn't even reach the point where it loads the .ini file, it seems.

I'm not even sure if it's actually running NWN2 yet, or if it's part of the NWN2 Steam Installation process that grinds it all to a halt.

When googled, I saw several recent posts about a problem with nwn2 and the card compatibility, mainly lag. One (older) post of success mentions the driver he was using, but not sure if sli:

Try posting here:

I didn't comb the Nvidia forums or support.
