granny2.dll Error
Everytime I try launching the game through Steam, it patches a few files, but then, when I click 'Start', I get the 'granny2.dll' error. I've been looking at the net, and the only solution for this would be to go to Options --> Full Scan, in the Game Launcher, which is impossible, because the button is always deactivated at me - it's grey, and impossible to click on.
The only solution for me was to not launch it through Steam itself, but just run the .exe of inside the steamapps/common/age of empires online folder. That worked for me, and I could just play the game fine. Now I purchased the All In One Bundle from the Steam Store, and it says I have all DLC. Then I just launch it through the folder where it was installed with Steam (not through Steam itself, or it would result in another granny2.dll error), and now it says I do not own any of the DLC. I also can't find the DLC Keys anywhere, so I also can't activate the DLC through the in-game Games for Windows Live app. This sucks hard, because I have paid money for this bundle, and I can't even use it. I can't even launch the normal game (without DLC) through Steam itself. Is there anyone here that can help me fix this granny2.dll error, so I can just launch it through Steam? Or atleast tell me how I can get my DLC Keys for the All In One Bundle (if possible)? Already sent a support ticket, but I hope anyone can help me with the granny2.dll error, so I can just normally launch it through Steam, and then it HAS to say that I have the DLC. Thanks in advance, guys! |

Are you running the game as administrator?
(To do this, right click on AOEOnline.exe and select Run as Administrator.) |

By the way, it downloads only a few files (patch download) when I launch it through Steam, but when I launch it out of the folder, it downloads a lot. |

But, when I reinstall Steam in the current Windows folder, won't I loose all of my games - I mean I'd have to redownload all of them again?

But will it link the DLC the first time I launch it through the new Steam to my AoEO account? And can I then just play it through the old one (the Steam folder) again? Thanks. Last edited by mptjedude: 04-07-2012 at 01:37 AM. |

this is Directly from the AoEO support forums
The Granny2.dll file is corrupt or cannot be found message at the launcher To resolve the error message ‘The granny2.dll file is corrupt’ or ‘The granny2.dll file cannot be found’ message at the launcher select “Options” and choose “Full Scan” from the drop down menu. Run Age of Empires Online as Administrator. try that and see if it works, if not i guess u will just have to run ur account from a new steam install |
