Not enough missions to lower strength
I find that I only ever get 1 or 2 missions that lower the strength of a faction in the entire game. It doesn't help either that only once have those missions been anything other than destroy survey ships which I have yet to complete because my mentally challenged AI suffer from ADHD and despite turning off resource collection they run off and don't stay anywhere near me and I need their firepower to kill them before they escape. Of course, instead of advancing in close they run away, then turn around, shoot once and usually, miss, then run off, then come back and shoot again, rinse and repeat. It's incredibly frustrating. Have you thought about adding in formations so that I can keep my ships close by without having to switch between them almost every second and more complicated firing instructions? Like synchronized firing where they shoot only when I do and stop firing when I do, even if they'll run out of power.

The ships won't try to escape unless you shoot them.
Set your AI to passive, get near the ship, go back to the tactic panel, select all your ships and right click the ennemy. Concerning the availability I agree that they're pretty rare. |

Yah, I've been doing that and figured that out quite early on but they still act like morons. Maybe I'm just having a lot of bad luck.
