Modern Warfare 2 is a steamworks title, so yes, it can be activated on steam.

MW2 is a Steamworks game so as far as I know yes you can activate it on Steam. In fact the game will require Steam to play.

From what I heard, this is not 100% complete, there may be more which can be found elsewhere in the forum.

I noticed L4D2 isn't on that list.

L4D2 is a Steam works title, and I know this from experience. (I got L4D2 as a Christmas gift, and it was retail, but I needed to activate it on Steam for it work)

I think L4D2 qualifies under the "Valve CD Keys" found at the top of the list.

Gamefly works by buying Direct2Drive and then not making any of your old games available from there after the takeover.

I bought Civ V from there and since it is a Steam game, it is the only title I bought from them I still have access to. That said, I would stay far away from them since they managed to lose a lot of folk's games.

Gamefly used to be solely a console rental service where you could also buy used copies of console games as well. Used it many times over the last couple of years. Then they bought out D2D and screwed over some of D2D's former PC customers by not giving them full credit for the games they owned on D2D prior it's purchase by Gamefly.

Shouldn't be any problems with new purchases though.

All Steam/Steamworks games no matter where you buy them from, have to be activated on Steam.

I have a gamefly account and I have been slowly getting my games back in my library. Though It has been taking over a year and I'm just over halfway getting access to my complete library.

Yeah it's fairly out of date ..

A simple way is to read the games description and requirements. If it does not say anywhere in the description or requirements that it requires steam then don't take any chances. They may not be selling a Steam key.
