Will there ever be another "real" flight simulator again from microsoft?

Or was FSX the last attempt and are they just going straight arcade flying from now on? Until they add a whole world, and jets, there really is no reason for me to bother with this. There is no place to go, sure there is plenty to do, but I'd rather have more places to go, and more choice on how I fly than 1 place with lots of missions.

No. They've gotten rid of most of the staff for FSX I believe and I think I remember them stating on the MF website a while back that that will be their final flight game. Its definitely taking over from the FS series atleast.

It's gone. aswell as us they lost out big time. They had the opportunity to earn loads from a new flight sim but blew it.

Flight sims were always a niche market and they never made "loads" from them in recent years. X-Plane is still here and still superior.

the thing is back then the hardware wasn't nearly as good as it is now. We should totally have something that looks like forza 4, but for flying.

also how dare you say theres no money in it... Just look at Railworks right here on steam! costs like 800 bucks for all it's DLC. We all know microsoft isn't above that.

How dare I? Easily, there's not much of a market compared to other genres.

And how many people have bought all there is to Railworks? There's two parts to the equation: Having a product and having a buyer. They don't look at Flight sims or any thing of this nature in a different light from triple A video game titles. It's all the same to them. What's more profitable? Flying a nutless LSA like the A5 or CoD-clone #452?

Check out Lockheed Martin Prepar3D version 1.3. Lockheed basically got the FSX code from Microsoft and came up with Prepare3D. Looks better than FSX vanilla and is compatible with most of the FSX add-ons.

Im pretty sure this will be a "SIM" eventually.. look inside the FLIGHT.cfg file.. much more coming in the future.. Flying the Maule through storms even now gives a pretty good feeling of crosswind and flight.. Im figuring a "SIM DLC" in the future.. till then, this is an introductory to those that have not flown before..and a pretty good begining imho, now that I used it for awhile.. graphicly and performance wise.. excellent. btw, I easily have $300.00 in FSX.. this DLC and addon thingy is nothing new in Flight SIMS..in fact... alot of people have started companies using the older MS flight programs.. so.. it's all in how you look at it.. you pay one way or the other.
