Alien Swarm MapPack
Alien Swarm MapPack 1.2 is a collection of custom maps, campaigns and enhancements for Valve's Alien Swarm, a popular 3rd-person co-op shooter video game, based on Source engine.
The MapPack adds new content to the game, hugely boosting the game's replay value, while not changing its natural gameplay. Extensive testing has been performed to ensure no compatibility issue between various content exists, and the MapPack is both server and client compliant, including popular server mods. Other maps and mods may or may not be compatible with it.
It is based on publicly accessible 3rd party's authored work, with respect to original author's rights and requests, currently featuring no modification to their work.
The MapPack will be maintained and updated for unforeseeable future, adding even more fun for all Alien Swarm fans over the entire world, so please stay tuned and report any issues and suggestions.
The Alien Swarm community will be thankful to have you include this MapPack on your Alien Swarm server! Also, please promote Alien Swarm to your co-op teammates whenever possible!

1. download and install 7-Zip 9.20+ file archiver from 7-zip.org, or Total7zip 0.8.5.2+ plugin for Total Commander from totalcmd.net.
2. download the MapPack from moddb.com.
3. delete all files from Alien Swarm addons folder*, but not original readme.txt.
4. delete all files from "Steam\steamapps\common\alien swarm\swarm\maps" folder, but not original campaign files:

7. using 7-Zip or Total7zip, extract the MapPack's .vpk files, from archive's addons subfolder, into Alien Swarm addons folder*.
*Alien Swarm addons folder path: "Steam\steamapps\common\alien swarm\swarm\addons"
Note: an installation by executing individual .vpk files is also possible, but not recommended.
It is possible to install only some maps, or to leave some maps out, by choosing appropriate .vpk files. Whichever happens to be the case in a particular situation, please make sure to include navmeshes.vpk file too.
Alien Swarm minor gameplay customizations
These commands can be used in the game's console, or in autoexec.cfg file placed into "Steam\steamapps\common\alien swarm\swarm\cfg" folder, or other common Source engine ways.
command value [default] description asw_auto_reload 0  whether your marine should autoreload asw_camera_shake 0  whether camera should shake when your marine is hit asw_fast_reload_under_marine 1  whether to display a reload bar under your marine asw_marine_labels_cursor_maxdist 500  max distance to other marines that gets their health-bar displayed
Note: the popular misconception with commands "asw_realistic_death_chatter 1" and "asw_hear_from_marine 1", about making marines auto-chat during the game, runs widely around. However, these commands actually disable some chat and sounds from happening; auto-chat is configured with other commands, and enabled by default.

i do not know if i'm to change my mind. we'll see. in principle, i care little about stuff that is not cared for by owners themselves, which does seem to be the case here. how hard it is to push a small frontpage update?!?
if i had more time, i might have even considered offering to take over the swarmarmory from the current owner. we'll see about too, i guess.

swarmarmory is (basically) another problem. Goodone's mappack is a good turnaround for the game, but having a site that's actively involved in the modding/mapping scene will be essential if we are to keep AS going.
As for now, you folks better download this and BIG IT UP to your friends.

for people who need a link easier to remember, DIMEDROLL has been enthusiastic enough to create a short link:
he's also hosting four server deployments with the mappack, named "UA, Kiev", which says enough where they come from. servers r currently not 24/7 active, but they r accessible from steam server browser, usually 8h-22h GMT, and while they do not possess a fixed ip, they r quite stable when it comes to lag and ping.
hopefully, we will have more server admins using the mappack on their as servers, following this bright example of a small but appreciated contribution to the community, even if not a fixed, 24/7 server deployment.

I've contacted several dedicated server admins on gametracker.com to install the map pack on their servers. One have responded and istalled it. So now we have one more dedicated server with latest map pack:

Another server seems to have installed the map pack. But still didn't confirm this.
