Icon A5 Altitude records

Hi,

Altitude record was set with a height of 15,000 feet from me with the "Icon A5".

I disabled every flying Assistance and the HUD in the options.

You could post your records here, but disable every flying Assistance and the HUD in the options! This is to give everybody the same conditions.

The highest I was patient enough to get was like 12500 feet. That's pretty impressive. I assume disabling a bunch of the assists would probably help, but I bet you'd also want to find the right location maybe with an updraft off one of the volcano's or a thermal, maybe over the black of a lava field.

Yes, indeed it was very tricky to "feel" the wind and get the updrafts, I can tell you that disabling all of the assists make it not easier. I did start from the airfield and did fly that high in 2 hours. The last feet made me crazy, always at 14,999 feet I got a airhole.

I recommend to use other weather, the clouds on other weather looking impressive. I use the low and threatening weather, it is the before last weather option, try to use this weather option and fly in Sommer and dawn at 6:15am.

I realized at 10k I didnt have the best weather for this trick but at that point I was to far gone.

I've managed to reach 16181 ft. Again, it seems that almost empty fuel tank is a way to go. I left the HUD on though, since it doesnt affect anything.

Gratulations for this great record, TheSwordUser! I know that it takes time to fly that high, how long did you need for it?

The HUD shows the "low altitude" warning and if I remember corect, than the HUD shows you the wind direction sometimes!?
The middle graphic, the cross steer shows you the middle, up and down and so on.

But still a great record from you, I bet you can do this even all disabled.

I flown w/o flying assistances enabled and in windless weather condition (common sense would suggest that if you were to fly with the wind, you'd go faster, and therefore a bit higher, that doesn't work in this game, in fact it makes everything more annoying).

...and yeah, forgot that mouse controls has this nice steer thingy in HUD, but w/o it I wouldn't be able to maintain constant rate of climb, I just wanted to see how high this plane can possibly go.

I didn't time the flight since I've been screwing arround here and there (doing something else on PC), but I guess it took arround 90-120 minutes of pure flying.

wind wont affect your rate of climb, unless you are talking up and down draughts
