My Tribute letter to Puppygames!
I will post this here since I like for others to read as well. I might just send it to them directly, we'll see =).
First of all happy birthday to Caspian Prince, aka princec, who is one of the guys behind Puppygames. I am not sure how many you guys are and what you do except making video games but I love all your games! You have a really unique atmosphere with the retro-space graphic and music style, which really defines your games! I first got contact with Revenge of the Titans via the Humble Bundle and it was such a blast! When Titan Attacks arrived on Steam I instant bought it because of the same look as Revenge of the Titans. I wasn't aware of your other games until I found your website a few months ago. Indie games have totally risen the past year thanks to all various indie bundles (which btw has gone quite out of control). I have the utter most respect for indie developers, who put so much time and effort in something that they aren't sure where it will end up. I also envy the dedication that they have, to be able to make a game on their spare time, apart from family and work. I have always wanted to be so determined to accomplish such things, sadly I am not. Making games have been my dream since several years back, when I was but a pulp, though I have never pulled myself together and go for it! As a veteran gamer I have spend a lot of time and money on gaming, and that's my hobby - being a gamer, a collector and a nerd. I have been ashamed of it, proud of it and even denied it at one point. No one deserves my money more than independent developers, because indie developers doesn't only bring cheap, odd-looking games. They also shape the future of gaming - adding creativity and imagination that bigger developers wouldn't dream of. Bigger developers would learn so much by looking at indies, to see what they should come up with instead of the regular, yearly FPS, that costs 60 bucks each time. I get really frustrated at the ones who bought several humble bundles for 1 cent, just so they could increase their games amount or try and sell/trade them away cheaply. The same goes for the scammers who managed to get more copies out of Puppygames when they gave away One copy of their games to everyone. I couldn't care less if it happened to a big company, because they would be able to handle it! Indie developers are having a hard time as it is! They can't afford to get their games available all over the internet for free. Making games might be their only income, stealing it would sabotage their lives! I am a poor, 19 year old, without a job. I live at my mom's, but I still make damn sure to get the small amount of money to the right people. I have bought every humble bundle and indieroyale bundle for at least 5 bucks each. It's not much, not at all, but I give what I can give! I wish I could raise a donation for Puppygames just to show them that there's fans who Do care about their games! Giving away a copy of Titan Attacks is all I can do for now! the first one to PM me will get a key (it was obtained during the free-game-day chaos, but it should work!). Thank you Puppygames for giving away a free copy of one of your games! Even though you caused quite the rumble - I am sure the most of the ones who got a copy deserved it, as you deserve a thanks from each one of them! I can imagine how you heard the ground shaking, just as in Revenge of the Titans, when the horde of hungry gamers stormed your fort! ![]() EDIT: Also, I will keep my eyes open for your other games getting to steam! =) Last edited by ©λεєrio: 04-16-2012 at 06:28 PM. |
