Valve: Maybe Consider NOT Promoting Some Games?

I'm of course talking about Crimecraft. Curious to see what the game was about, I decided to go to the Crimecraft SPUF and see what was up.

On the first page alone, there were reports of crashes, events ending early, complaints that the game just isn't fun, wrongful account bannings, horror stories with Crimecraft customer support, and now reports of rootkits being included with the game download are coming out here in the TF2 section. I didn't see one directly positive thing on the front page.

Valve, why would you promote a game that everyone seems to hate?

Wow, that CrimeCraft forum is a disaster... In comparison, our little corner of SPUF is all roses and unicorn farts.

Anyhow, from the sounds of it, the game's possibly too much hassle to bother with.

It's something disgruntled CC players won't give to the CC devs, but are more likely to give to VALVe if they promote with a game that everyone hates.

The hope is that players of a terribad game will flock to a not-terribad game.

You shouldn't really trust the forums for feedback for non-Steam originated games. I mean look it the AVA forums, nothing but virus, crashing, unable to create account complaints yet I play the game just fine.

Have I ever mentioned just how much I love the TF2 forums and all it's denizens? Indeed, thepounder1 said it right... its all rainbows and unicorn farts. Enjoyable delicious unicorn farts.

RedWyvern's point is very valid. Look at MOST Steam forums beyond TF2 and other Valve-made games. The first thing these Steam forums are used for is technical support. Additionally, it is a global truth that unhappy people are more likely to speak up than content people, so upset posts WILL make up the other majority. This is not an issue of this new game alone. Also, if it has a pre-Steam history, its primary forum is probably located elsewhere.

Promoting is promoting, it is NOT an award of excellence or expression of an opinion. I personally like Valve promoting games, no matter how obscure I assume their presence to be or how unlikely it may be that I'd even try it. Mutual promotion is good for moving forward in economics.

Tell me about it, I spent 5 hours downloading the game, and playing that awful game 2 times to get the achievements on christmas, one for me and one for my brother and his broken wrist.

It was bad, but not as bad as Rise of Immortals, I literally feel awful by just playing that awful game, I mean what's wrong with the artstyle agh.
