Game crashes on start-up
I've played about 50 minutes of the game so far. I had this problem where the title screen would "freeze up" for a long time, and the game would run extremely slowly, but after I updated my video driver it ran like a dream. However, today, when I try to start the game up it just closes right off the bat.
I verified the integrity of the game cache, and it found 1 file that needed to be re-downloaded, but it still crashes... is anyone else experiencing this? |

No, no issue here.
Win 7 x64 Pro (SP1) Xeon X3380 8GB DDR3 Nvidia GT240 1gb (driver: 296.10 & driver: 301.24 confirmed working) Specs please, and copy/paste contents of STDERR.txt (if it exists). It'll be in the game's subdirectory in Steamapps\Common\ Last edited by Saijin_Naib: 04-17-2012 at 09:16 PM. |

I'm having a similar problem, except I've never actually managed to play the game. Like Lyricalias, every time I verify the game cache, there is always one file that needs redownloading. I tried deleting all local content and redownloading, but to no avail.
When launching, I can see the exe running in Process Explorer, then it dies. I've had a look at Event Viewer and I get the following error message: Quote:
Windows 7 Pro x64 DirectX 11 ASUS P6T-Deluxe V2 Intel Core i7-920 6GB RAM 2x ATI HD6850 (crossfire disabled - latest drivers according to CCC) |

I'm having this exact same problem.

G:\Steam\steamapps\common\superbrothers sword & sworcery ep\stderr.txt Last Modified 0KB (at the same time it crashed) I'm going to make a layman's speculation and assume that this is not a problem with the game, but with whomever packaged it for steam. They may have not taken into consideration steam not being in C: drive or they have not uploaded the correct files for packaging in the first place. Or there is a mismatch between the files you download and the verification process steam uses. Please fix this, I may need a refund, because I cannot get it to run no matter what. Doubt it is hard-coded to C path seeing as my steam directory is on my D: drive and not in a standard path.

an 1 file fault in a steam verify is normal for some games including this game

some people disable the windows page file mayby this game needs a page file
btw bex is caused by dep EventType BEX Indicates a buffer overflow (/GS) or DEP exception (BEX64 indicates a buffer overflow (/GS) or DEP exception on 64-bit versions of Windows) |

Same issues here, haven't gotten the game to start, its just always not responding when I try to start it up. Tried verifying the cache, and got 1 file failed, every single time I try it.
EDIT: Tried re-downloading it 3 more times, still won't work, just starts up not responding and I can't get it to close. My system specs are Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) Intel I5-2500 GTX 560 Ti (drivers are 296.10) 8gb of RAM ASUS Z68 pro motherboard Last edited by PaNfOoT: 04-21-2012 at 01:16 PM. |
