Well, if it's happening on Origin copies of the game too, then it's definitely not a Steam issue.
Sounds to me like the authentication servers for the game are simply down. Usually in those situations, a company will at least get a backup server up and running fairly quickly. They must be having a more serious issue. :/ |

As I type this, Steam is currently launching KoA: Reckoning. I was having the CD Key error, but it seems that the servers are back up/keys have become available/issue has resolved itself.
This is the first time this has happened to me with a Steam game, and though it didn't take long to be resolved, I hope never to encounter it again. That was highly frustrating. |

Awesome, thanks for the report!
Let's see, judging by the time stamp on the first post, that's 4 hours down time. Remember there was that thread from a month ago with the same issue, so this will probably recur. It's nice to have a time frame established in which we can expect them to fix it. Unfortunately, for some of us, it is now time to go to work... sigh. The rest of you, have fun with the game.
