How is the online multiplayer doing?

Hey guys so the square enix catalogue is on 75% off sale again on Gamers Gate and I just wanted to find out how the supreme commander 2 multiplayer was doing? Is it easy enough to find a match and people to play with?

Would you recommend the game? Will give the demo a bash over the weekend too.

It is fun. I play mostly with people I know. That way I can get even matches.

I never play RTS public, except StarCraft 2, SupCom I only play with friends so I wouldn't know about public games, but just a headsup - if you are a fan of Total Annihilation/SupCom 1 you will be disappointed with SupCom 2. They changed a lot of the core features of the series in SupCom 2, for the worse, and more mainstreamed.

Incorrect. If you are expecting SupCom2 to be FA, or OTA, then yes, you will be disappointed. I've been disappointed when I went to drink a glass of water only to find out it was Sprite. Supcom2 is no longer the drawn out game of tiers and game enders. Units you can build with your first factory can be viable the entire game. In FA, I often self destruct tier 1 engineers once I'm well into tier3. All my tier 1 units are dead, or being sent on suicide scouting missions too by that time.

Well as I said, a fan of the orignal series will most likely prefer SupCom 1, since the second isn't really supcom anymore - it's just another RTS, smaller scale, smaller units, different resource system, research and so on. I'm not saying it's a bad game, but people like me who love TA/SupCom 1 won't be as into SupCom 2.

I loved Supcom1. I loved TA. I also love SupCom2. TA and SupCom1 are actually very different. Any fan RTS's should enjoy SupCom2.

Calling it "2" was the problem. People who preferred the long drawn out slug fests (me!) expected part 2 to be more of the same but better. Instead we got a console game (sorry but the game was designed with consoles in mind... not saying its a bad game but the limitations were designed to allow the game to fit on the limited consoles... IE memory, processing, UI)

So both games are good but VERY different. Most people will like one or the other but not both... note I said most

The game is faster too. You can build useful units within 1-2 minutes of starting a match. When I do PvP in supcom2, the match is over in 30 minutes or less (more often less than 20 minutes).

Supcom2 does slug fest vs the AI rather well in my experience. No more traffic jams with large amounts of land units.
