I was about to buy this
But then I remembered Jolly Rover's (a nice little game) history with being in multiple bundles in light of the Botanicula fiasco. I don't pirate games, ever, and I'm not going to get duped paying for a game that then gets offered for much, much less by a promotion structure aimed at appeasing pirates (which is all Indie Bundles really are at base). So I'll get this for a pennies when it inevitably shows up in a bundle in a month. No point paying for indie games when any of them worth paying for (and many more that aren't) all end up in bundles for a tiny fraction of the price

What an awful attitude to have. This game costs freaking $4. If I could give you negative rep I would.
And it's nothing like Botanicula because it didn't come out in a bundle on release. In the case where GoG pre-order felt duped the developers of the game offered a free artbook and soundtrack for them. If you can afford the internet to post on these forums you can afford $4 (or even $2 for the iPhone version) to buy this game and support indie developers. If you pay $0.03 for indie bundles developers literally get nothing. You may as well be pirating the game. |

What a baffling post. If you're cheap, fair enough. If you use piracy as an excuse for being cheap, fair enough. Why post about it?

Wow. Disappointing.
Bundles are not just a way of discounting games, but getting people to play games they might not have heard of before. Like in the last bundle there were two games I hadn't played before - Lume and Tiny Bang Story. I probably wouldn't have picked these games up if they weren't in the bundle. Normally when I buy a bundle, I'm paying for one or two games, and getting other games free that I probably wouldn't have picked up anyway. Us indies have little to no marketing budgets, so these bundles are really important to get us out there. |

This negative side-effect of bundles and seasonal Steam sales is becoming more and more prominent.
People are now so accustomed to seeing heavily discounted games, they no longer want to pay full price and rather wait for sale events which are bound to happen sooner or later. I kind of agree with GOG interview regarding sales can devalue games. Honestly, I also perceive games in bundles as cheap, good for nothing games. Just like those cheap store-brand products that you usually see in a bargain bin near the checkout. Occasionally I can find some good stuffs in those bins, but it's not like I gonna become a royal customer to those store-brands. |

The minimum for a lot of bundles now actually exceeds the price of this game!
Besides which, it's fairly random when/if a game will get bundled so if you really want a game its best to just buy it or you might be waiting months, years, if ever. I think the seasonal sales are worse. Knowing with certainty that a game will be cheaper twice a year. I mostly use bundles for games I'm interested but not enough to buy. Either highly regarded games from genres I don't typically play or poorly received titles from genres I do play. Then I basically get a bunch of other games I had no interest in for free which tend to surprisingly be my favourites of the bunch lol. |

You are aware than not every indie game end up in a super bundle? And that some don't even go on sale that often?
Have you checked how many indie games are here? Less than 30% of the indie games on Steam have been in these legendary super bundles! I don't care if this appears in a Humble Bundle in a month... I'll just buy it again to get the soundtrack!

That's the point. They probably would like to make more. Another point. Also, if there is a bundle with a game you would like, at least have the decency to pay a reasonable price. Pennies is not reasonable. |

Come on, it is from the makers of Jolly Rover. Sure, Jolly Rover was short, but also one of the more fun adventures I played. Since it was from them, I bought this game I might have not considered otherwise until it goes 50p off.
And yes, I got Jolly Rover far before it was in the Indie bundle. I think that was when it was 66p off on some Steam sale. Or maybe 75p. Last edited by Protoss: 04-21-2012 at 10:31 PM. |

I can understand people wanting to wait with games; it's the equivalent of choosing not to see a film in theaters and waiting to get it when it's in the DVD bargain bin. The price you pay, of course, is that you don't get to play the game until the random date in the future that it potentially goes on sale, a day that, theoretically, you might miss if you're not always bargain hunting.
The difference, however, is that independent games could really use your support, and if you like the studio, you should buy the game on release day, assuming you can afford it. They're not asking an unreasonable amount, and the game itself is a lot of fun (even if I can't figure out how to get the postbox and Strump achievements). |

Both of which are easy to do (though you have to do the Strump one before fighting Alphonse...) You've just got to chat him up on the walkie-talkie (instead of asking for a hint) a bunch of times. The post box, just look at it. A lot. REALLY scrutinize it.
