Windows 7 Arma 2 problem?

HELP!!!

Well I bought and installed Arma 2 earlier this year through Steam and I have been having the same problem since i bought it in February of this year (2012).

When I click to play Arma 2 it asks me if I want to play in windowed or full screen version. I have tried both and it does the same thing. Well what happens is that nothing comes up at all and Steam says I'm playing Arma 2 but in a few seconds says I'm not and the game never comes up.

PLEASE HELP!!! I have Windows 7 for my computer and I'm not sure what else it could be. :/ I would really appreciate an answer!

I tried playing it a few minutes ago and an error came up it said

Quote:
C:\Windows\system32\X3DAudio1_6.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.
PLEASE HELP!!!

Well I'm running Steam in administrator mode. I re-downloaded and installed the direct x 9 thing and I'm having the older problem now. Where nothing comes up and it says I'm playing the game for a few seconds and then it says I'm not.

ANYMORE SUGGESTIONS???

Well, that setup should not have a problem - maybe post up your .rpt file which can be found at;

c:\users\[yourwindowsusername]\appdata\local\Arma 2 OA\armA2OA.rpt

This may say what the issue is when it crashes.

When i go into my username there isn't a file called "appdata" when I do the search for "%appdata%" I go into "local" but there isnt a file called "Arma 2 OA".

Turn anti-virus software off before launching games. They often get in the way.
No real need to have it running when all you're doing is playing a game anyways.

Try updating DirectX, but to actually re-install it, you need the Redist download in order to do that. The Web-Updater won't actually re-install DirectX. Extract the REDIST to a temp folder, and then run DXSETUP.EXE (as Admin).
