Save Corruption Glitch!

I just encountered a huge bug that apparently resulted in a corrupted save file.

After defeating the boss at the end of Mechanical, I proceeded through the air vent on the left to the next area; however, just after I did, I realized there was another area I had previously visited that I wanted to go back to. Since the air vent was one-way, I decided to just quit the game and re-load, hoping that I would come out either at the save point just before the boss, or just after beating it; instead, I was told that my save was corrupted, and that my only option was to restart the game entirely!

This was obviously a HUGE disappointment, but I wanted to at least raise awareness about it in the hopes that somebody else is spared this frustration. There wouldn't happen to be a utility to repairing my save file, would there be?

My save game has also become corrupt and I have no idea why.
I got to a checkpoint then quit the game and now it says I have to start over.
this issue needs to be addressed.

I should mention that I quit the game through the menu.
I didn't just alt+f4 in the middle of saving or something.

I had a similar problem at the end of Mechanical. I got stuck in the rotating lock when leaving the section and had to quit, and when trying to resume play got the corrupted save file message.

Seriously, how hard would it have been to use more than one autosave file?

And another one. The game crashed after the Electric boss battle and now my save is corrupt.

My savegame is corrupted too. Hell yeah. With 96% of the game completed. Now I don't want to start it all over again, so... bye bye ITSP

Exactly the same problem.

I finished the electric level.

I used the menu to quit the game.

I relaunched the game later.

I tried to resume : the game says the file is damaged and cannot be loaded.
