Can't join servers, now I can't refresh?

Me and my friend purchased this game tonight so we can co-op play. First he tried to join my multiplayer server, and it said unable to connect. Then I tried to join his server, and same thing.

Now, we can't even search for servers, we click refresh and it just locks up, then sits there and does nothing.

We've tried running steam as admin, and running the game as admin, neither has worked.

Any advice?

what windows versions are you both running?

also what version of the game are you both using? as many people would be using the fanpatch, but that place might be your best bet to get answers
