I can make it extremely short. With Portal-like portals, one could defy the law of energy preservation making them absolutely impossible.

Wikipedia says Einstein did prove the theoretical existence of wormholes. Hence it could be possible.

(How wonderful that Wikipedia never dares to fail me.)

I doubt Portal-like portals could exist, however, a quick search for the law of energy preservation got me near to zero results; and I do not remember hearing of such a law. Anyway, next best result was the law of conservation of energy, but I do not understand why this prevents the existence of such wormholes/portals?

I read something about it earlier. Basicaly the law of conservation of energy says that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. However a portal gun would theoretically allow you to break this law(for example make water constantly fall through a portal and put a windmill between them), which causes a lot of people to dismiss it as impossible, as it would break this law of science.

Einstein's theory states that wormholes in space that literally rip open the space-time fabric and allow it to be used as a shortcut to get to it's corresponding other side.

Although how you are going to manage to find enough energy to open a wormhole and keep it open long enough to be usefull is beyond todays science.
