And you're surprised? How often do you see free DLC now days anyway?

The paid DLC discussion is seriously old.

Which part of my post said I'm surprised?

You mentioning it was enough

Mentioning it is enough to indicate SUPRISE? Learn to read. Don't waste my time.

The first time they did this I thought: "Well, give it a go and see what it's like" 3 hours of gameplay later I sincerely wondered why anyone with a shred of self-respect would bother with it at this price. For £10 I would buy it, just for the occasional bit of brainless shooting, but any more than that would just be a waste of my money.

This really is the first time, I am seriously disappointed in a weekend deal.

They could include the single player, that's the only thing I'd like to try out...

Money saved, I still to this day have never played a CoD game and want to keep it that way even with free weekends.

I am sitting on a chair. I must be surprised because I mentioned that.

If you're looking for that type of game try Serious Sam 3: BFE.

I picked it up yesterday as it's on a deal and I'm enjoying it at the moment, lot of fun

@ OP

I wouldn't touch another Activision game after MW2 and the no dedi servers fiasco. I didn't buy that one so I have no intention of buying this one.

If a COD product (post 4) goes on sale / has a free weekend (in the woods), and everyone is around when it was announced, does anyone care?

What I meant was that the crying of paid DLC is just old, why keep mentioning it, pretty much any game released will have paid DLC. So why cry about MW3 having paid DLC? It's part of todays gaming and it will most likely not going to change in a long time.

The first two CoDs were spectacular for their time and even to this day. Can't speak for the more recent iterations of the franchise though. I did play MW3 the last time there was a free weekend. I didn't play that much and wasn't all that impressed though I'd love to take a stab at the SP.

Cod campaigns are short enough to easily clear in a weekend so that would not benefit them.
