Ah, apologies on that one. I tried testing multiple fixes but after a while I ended up killing the process as soon as I perceived no change in the loading issue.
I've let the flashing loading screen run for 5 minutes now and, strangely enough, no Invalid Catalog File Index error occurred and no new CodeGuard log was created. I killed the process cleanly and no error message popped up. However, the problem still persists in that the loading screen flashes to black repeatedly and the loading never stops. Below is the new log file created after letting it sit there for five minutes:
