Bullet drop

Dont you guys think bullet drop is a bit to much. you have to adjust your aim for a target at 180 meters, while this gun could fire at 600 meters. even your thompson doesnt have that kind of bullet drop. This kinda leave me to believe there arent any real long range shots.

As part of our development of the game we consulted an expert military historian who had also worked on the first game. He told us that average sniping distances in urban warfare in the latter stages of WWII were between 130 and 250 metres. In the real world, there would be no bullet drop over these kind of distances. However, we have exaggerated the bullet drop as it's such an intrinsic part of gameplay, providing a challenge for players of all abilities, while creating an environment that is true to history.

yes it is, the bullet drop is very aggressive and not realistic at all, I think they overdid it because they wanted people to feel realistic bullet drop in such small distances.
This has been brought up on the official forums, but there hasn't been any reply, maybe a mod can fix this in the future but there is no way you have to compensate this much with this rifles for such small distances.

The ultimate irony of all this is that, playing in a setting with "no bullet drop" might end up being more realistic than any "realistic bullet drop" setting this game has.

And, ultimately, this is a sniping game rather than a sniping simulator. We have to balance realism with rewarding gameplay. No bullet drop would be 100% accurate, but not a lot of fun for what should be a challenging and interesting game.

Which is what people want to you can have it, so you can have no bullet drop(realistic) or bullet drop, which adds a bit of skill. SO we all win ......woooooh

Leave the 100% realism to ArmA-series

Bullet drop @ short range you should not get,u should be allowed to zero your scope as a setting, devs?

If you can zero your scope, you can set it to 200 meters minute one, and probably not need to change it much if at all throughout the game, the urban combat limits range severely.

if they zero the scope at 200yards then they would have to compensate for closer targets and aim to the feet to hit the head of a soldier at 10 yards XD.

as already said, if you want to play with realistic ballistics play on easy mode, most of the sniper rifles featured in SEV2 have a very flat flight up to ~280 yards

I'm pleased with the fact the devs knew how they wanted to integrate a rewarding system along with an accurate one, and focusing on the former. I couldn't even play on the easy modes because it felt like cheating, I know some people like that, but the devs made the right decision in adding more challenging modes. We all win!

Interesting comment on how this means there aren't any long shots. I guess this game is going to be a bunch of medium range corridors.

I wouldn't say that. There might be a good amount of long shots for certain specific missions, but no one would play a game where every shot was 500-800 meters. Not even including the fact that it creates way too much walk time for the player. The only way to eliminate that would be create targets that didn't actually aggress on you. What could people with submachine guns do from 600 meters, since they only have an effective range of 1/6th of that? There'd be no challenge, nor a compelling game. Unless the entire goal was to kill enemy snipers which I could only fear would be like crawling everywhere; killing one person every 10 minutes; or being bombarded with 5 snipers and no way to get up.

In short, a lot more goes into a game, than you give it credit for.

No matter what the dev says I still think the drop is WAY overdone. A round shouldn't be dropping six inches at 100m. It should still be rising in its parabolic arc. There could have been plenty of challenge in letting people figure out whether to aim low or high to get kill shots.
