AMD FX6100
CPU: AMD FX 6100
MOBO: ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 BIOS: 1103 (LATEST) RAM: 8GB I'll start by saying yes I bloody well have searched the forums and tried pretty much everything I can find and yet I'm still getting to the loading screen and then crash to desktop. I have the Orochi mod installed and that helps for Saints Row 3 but Portal 2 is unplayable. I really want to play and I don't know what I can do? Is there any other fix? As I said I have the latest BIOS, I installed Orochi and even have it set it to run at startup so I can play SR3. Not sure what else I can do. Any help would be appreciated. |

Did you bother to check over at Can You Run It for the very basics? It'll at least tell you the bare minimum info to see whether the individual pieces of your rig are capable of running it properly. I'm not familiar with model numbers, and you should do your research first before randomly asking fans...
Check over at the can you run it site, list any of your error messages if you get any. |

checked canyourunit I can most definitely run it.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...lldozer-issue& ^ ^Thats Orochi. No I don't get portal2.exe has stopped working. It just simply crashes to desktop. Without warning and without even bothering to tell me why. I'm aware this may be something to do with Valves CEG. Sorry I haven't got back to this sooner, my internet was d/ced for a while. |

Hey man, i have a FX-8120 and when i got the CPU i found about 10 of my games were unplayable, including Portal 2, saints row 3, total war shogun, serious sam 3, etc.
The fix that fixed every single one of these games is a motherboard bios update, this also helped with 2 friends of mine. I see you do have the latest bios, which sucks that that isnt the problem... what i have heard though us downgrading the bios can sometimes help, it may be risky, but might be worth the shot?? It is Portal 2 after all.. :P |

Orochi allows me to run Saints Row 3, where as before running Saints Row 3 would blue screen my PC for no reason.
From what I can tell this is a problem to do with steams CEG nothing to do with the game engine. For some reason Steams CEG just doesn't get on with the Bulldozer range of CPUs. I've tried every single one of the available BIOS updates for my MOBO so it seems my only choice here is either wait for ASUS to release another BIOS or buy a different MOBO. Thanks anyway guys. |
