Hello all! I'm on a tight budget and so I've been doing research on building your own computer for gaming, and been looking at this recommended budget gaming desktop and would like to know will it be able to run Team Fortress 2, Team Fortress Classic(This should run fine), Garrys Mod, Minecraft, Counter Strike, Counter Strike Source, Magicka, GTA VC, SA, and GTA 5 hopefully.
Specs: Mobo: ASUS M5A97 AMD9 Series CPU: AMD PHENOM II X4 965 Black Edition RAM: Patriot 4GB DDR3 (1333 Mhz) Video Card: EVGA Geforce GTX 550 Ti superclocked (1GB) HD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB Optical Drive: Sony Optiarc 24x DVDRW drive Case: Coolmaster RC-430-KWN1 ELITE 430 Power Supply: Cool Master Elie Series 460 Watts Total: $548 USD Please take the time to tell me if I will experience any lag with this build. I play tf2 mostly and will be getting into Garrys Mod and CS: S I hope I don't have to do this to tf2 will I? D: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwJSjntbcpU I've been getting the info off here, http://www.build-gaming-computers.co...-computer.html Or should I get the Mid range one? If the budget will run them fine, I rather get that one. Not sure still if I should wait for the mid range, should I? Thanks for your time

The CPU is fine, but I think the video card should be upgraded to the 560 class.

A GTX 550 TI is a fine card, but don't expect to max the more demanding of games. GTA IV is notorious for running poorly on even mid-range hardware.

The GTX 560 Ti is a bit pricey; the cheapest being around $210 compared to the $120 GTX 550 Ti. You may want to consider the GTX 560 SE: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130770
The few reviews out there about this shows decent performance only for $130. |

I'm surprised nobody has noticed this...
The Cooler Master Elite 460W isn't that great of a power supply - its even at the bottom-of-the-barrel for CM's line of power supplies. Max output of 327W on the two combined 18A +12v rails. 327W / 12V = 27A 27A / 2 rails = 13.5A Could be pushing it a bit with the 125W TDP processor and 116W GTX 550Ti. Getting a GTX 560 SE would bring that power usage up a bit more. You also don't want to constantly run your PSU at/near 100% load. Edit: Review on this power supply http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/artic...-Review/1005/1 "Another example of false advertisement is the manufacturer listing over current protection (OCP) as a feature available on this power supply: inside the unit the space labeled “OCP control board” is empty. This unit can’t deliver its labeled power – like Elite Power 400 W, it can only deliver up to 420 W. To make things worse, this unit is sold for USD 10 more than Elite Power 400 W – an extra 33% profit for Cooler Master for counterfeiting their own power supplies. yeah my eye cached on his PSU as well. i would start by getting a stronger one. 600W or higher should give it more headroom.

SE models are generally a no-no for anyone really wanting anything resembling gaming performance.
Tthe SE line will have much less performance than that of the standard and TI models. Just look up some specs on the models, you'll see why. Unless you *REALLY* get a great price on it, stay away from an SE model over the standard or the TI models. Gentle |

How muh are you willing to spend on a power supply?
As a side, the power supply is on if the most critical components of a PC - never "cheap out" on it. If it fails, it can take other expensive parts with it (graphics card, motherboard, etc). For $50-$70 you can get a nice 450W-550W. 450W might not give much headroom, but should be fine for a single mid-range graphics card. (GTX 550Ti, 6770..)
