from what i gather the game seems to like ati cards but not nvidia ones. but weirdly some people can run it fine. i have no idea why the game doesnt like my system specs. and im not the only one with the problem either.

P.B. games barely get patched so it wouldn't surprise me if you have to spend $100 and get a better video card.

Always do a custom install and do not install them.

it probably IS my hardware not being up to snuff, but even then if i CAN RUN THE WITCHER 2 JUST FINE WHY NOT THIS GAME? it's not like the graphics in this game are pushing new ground. this is an example of a POORLY OPTIMIZED GAME
It IS very poorly optimised, I give you that, but pls keep in mind that you cant compare an open world RPG (Risen 2) with a linear RPG like TW 2. Also I think R2 has got alot more detail to it than TW2.
Still, I think this time around Piranha Bytes MUST address these issues (also the vegetation, shadows and combat pls) with one or several big patches.

Turning the ultra options to high seems to help. Also NVIDIA users should have the latest beta drivers. I get 40-60 on a 6950/1055t. It's not as good as it should be but it's not too bad.

Wow, thanks for posting this thread. This saved me a lot of headaches. As soon as I saw the FPS hit, I uninstalled the 3d drivers and now the game runs perfectly. Thanks!

Uninstalling the 3D drivers didn't help for me, not a single frame more.
At least the game runs somewhat acceptable now with the shadows on high and framecap at 30 for the most part, only dense jungles still cause very low FPS..

Just lower the shadows detail and your performance will be a lot better. Nothing else has as big impact on performance as shadows in Risen 2.

I started the game and it was running smoothly at around 45fps then I quit and later loaded my save and the fps was 15.

I tried to start a new game and it still was around 15fps.

Not sure what the issue is.

Nevermind I noticed my clocks were low from a display driver crash that didn't reset them correctly.

I fixed that and the game runs at a smooth 30fps+ even in jungle areas at 1680x1050 max settings with FXAA forced using a GTX 275.

.
Well Witcher 2 isn't linear for a rpg that focuses on story >.>

But more detail? I really don't think so.

Just come on!

Even rain looks better with the Depth of Field it looks fantastic

I think fire looks better in Witcher 2 also. Not that Risen 2's is ugly.

Have you tried changing the refresh rate? I know it's obvious but some people skip that part. (it's just below the resolution setting) The default was too low for my screen and caused huge fps drop.
