Weird DX11 problem
If I try to run the game in DX11, I`ll get to the menu (no splash screen crash) but then after a random but short amount of time, usually only enough to play around with settings, my screen will reset, showing a message that says no signal for a very short amount of time, then it`ll either come back as a black screen with shogun 2`s cursor or my desktop, again with shogun 2`s cursor but I can`t click anything, either way I have to kill it in task manager. I AM running an FX processor but have all the hotfixes and BIOS updates. I have absolutely no problems in DX9 but would rather have higher AA (lol does MLAA really even do anything?) and some of the DX11 only options. I am running an SLI setup but haven`t seen anyone say the game has any SLI problems. I`ll post my dxdiag but I`m not sure if it`ll help, especially since I also have this problem with wargame european escalation, again, DX11 only.

Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 with the F6 BIOS (newest)
AMD FX-4100
SLI`d GTX 550TI 2GBs

Post the dxdiag in tech support forum at TW, specifically the tech support sub forum for graphics.

And for what it's worth, the vid cards you're using have been used by plenty of others with no issue, whereas I've seen some discussion around the net about AMD procs being a potential headache with S2. So, when it comes to a process of elimination, I'd start there.

And one final note, the game looks pretty good under DX9, why not play it there till you get this sorted.

I guess I`ll try the TW forums, I have been playing in DX9, I just prefer being able to use higher anti-aliasing. I`m using 2 x GTX 550TIs. Runs everything else I play no problem

Yeah, S2 is not particularly well optimized, so it puts a real strain on any card you care to throw at it. That and the fact that it only utilizes one proc core means it's really just a complete unoptimized pig of a program really.

I know where you're coming from trying to get it to run under DX11, it does look better. Given the amount of traffic spent on AMD procs not working cooperatively with the game, I'd be surprised if that's not where the issue is ultimately.
