PC Gamer comments on weekend events in EVE ONLINE
Nowhere is safe in EVE Online as Goonswarm suicide-bombs galactic trade hub
http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/04/28/no...tic-trade-hub/ The social-political-economic aspects of EVE ONLINE always inspired me, and the events outlined in the above article is no exception. In what other game can you truly do what you can do in EVE ONLINE, organize fleets of hundreds of other players to deliberately go into one of the most protected systems in the game, and seed nothing but chaos for the last 24hours.  Take a look at some of the comments at the bottom of the article, thye are truly expiring.

The funny thing is, I like how Pc gamer trys to explain how Jita is normally "safe" etc. Truth is Jita is never a safe place, and is generally a chaotic spew of destruction on a regular day. Anyone who goes into Jita thinking its safe is wrong.
Sort of like Hulkageddon, (which is great btw!) but makes me laugh, how only then do Miners start to think defensivly, and about their survival, Yet wonder why they get Suicide ganked on regualr days out side of Hulkageddon. Eve doesnt have levels of Safety (unless docked), only degrees of danger. Just happens on "Jita burn", and Hulkageddon they get just that more dangerous! that might explain why the goons failed to make any impact also most of the isk loss was the goons I mean 40 tornados worth about 3.2 billion to take down 1 obelisk worth 1.2 billion lol huge fail |

arron1718 sorry to say but your figures are soo wrong, every target destroyed was cargo scanned to see if it was viable and i know that the 3 frieghters and 2 jump frieghters i was involved in killing where easily a win for us 1 of them was 28 billion isk in hull and cargo destroyed and even if we lost the isk war killing a target our mission was achieved, bbc radio, pc gamer international media and blogs talking about the game,goonswarm promotes this game bringing new players into it becasue we love all you pubbie noobs....... the Mittani LOVES YOU

pc gamer dont have a clue on stats
the goons lost the most isk FACT you can talk about cargo all you want but you didnt get much of it the goal was to stop traffic and drive up prices, which you didnt do so yes it was a fail oh and not to forget those that went out and hunted down goons |

Total Destruction: 518.47 Billion Isk
GRAND TOTAL SPENT: 182.205 Billion 182 Bil was spent by Goonswarm to destroy 518 Bil of pubbie toys. All Figures pulled from EVE kill. Sorry to say Goons won the isk war too.1 : 2.85 |

best choice was when a random loaded freighter came through and an empty PL jump freighter..
we shot the empty jump freighter  (more value destroyed) |

Jita has never been what you would call a safe system lol.Theres always been suicide gankers ready to steal your cargo ect so PC gamer is wrong in that aspect really.I also feel thast the Jita burn op by Goonswarm didnt really have much impact yes ship prices have risen slightly because players are having to replace lost ships ,but they where rising anyway because of the drone region changes.All in all it didnt have much impact on the markets as a whole though i applaud Goonswarm for doing a news worthy op which hopefully will get more players into EVE.As the OP said no other game allows its players such freedom to shake things up or attempt such things
