Shadowmere walks away and doesn't follow

This is a known bug.
Pasted from UESPwiki - "After summoning the Spectral Assassin, Shadowmere may disappear or refuse to follow you."

Ideas anyone?

Yep, kill the assassin and don't summon him back. Go get Shadow back and keep him, he talks a lot less than that damned insufferable specter. ;p
