What a waste of potential.

Free to play, barely known, very little development, dead community.

Its a completely unique genre of multiplayer game and yet no, lets just make it completely free and let all this potential go to a complete waste.

This is such a shame. I'm so sick of the most intriguing genres such as this one with so much potential to be just left to rot. Its a disgrace.

I don't agree on this that is completely dead.The most of mappers work on
Hypovolemia.Further to this the 2 years project of XFunc_CaRteR called Reduction is coming out anytime now and, there is still some mappers around that keep making things in their
free time.

So what are you doing to help the community? Seems like you're just hurting it with the negativity in the typical "X is dead", when in fact the community is still pretty active. I just took this screenshot and counted 20 lobbies, and this isn't counting the games also available on the dedicated server browser. The game also breaks into the the "top 100 games being played" on steam stats quite frequently in the morning. It might not be the largest community, but it's still kicking, especially on weekends and weekday nights.

Grab the map pack and play during peak hours.

It would be nice if Valve were to bring it back. Maybe release a DLC pack, or get it up on the front page.

I like Alien Swarm. I love it in fact. When it came out me and my friends played it to death. The only thing that killed it was the fact that it never got updated. There's only so many times even I can play Jacob's Rest.
If they overhauled it, added multiple campaigns etc, I'd pay to re-own it.

Sigh. The idea behind it was so good. Why can't they take some of that tf2 money that they're raking in and spend a little on this?
