QuakeWorld Lag and Map Packs

1.) I've been trying to play on various QuakeWorld servers. The maps seem to be very laggy. I'm on high speed cable, and don't have this issue with other games. Any advice? Would it have anything to do with having DarkPlaces and the Ultimate Patch installed?

2.) Where is the best place to download large groups of maps in zip files? It takes forever to download maps before connecting to a match, and I would like to be able to just jump in. I found some map packs online, but they are linked to MegaUpload (which we all know is offline now). Any tips?

No packs, but you can download a gazillion of maps at http://www.quaddicted.com/files/maps/multiplayer/

I find Dark places isnt comptible with quakeworld online best to use omething like EZQuake
